Bitaogan Cove Must-Visit

Bitaogan, Bato, East Catanduanes, Philippines

Bitaogan Beach/ Bitaogan Cove/ Victoria Cove

Bitaogan Beach is located at Sitio Bitaogan, Pananaogan, Bato, Catanduanes, Philippines. It can be reached by land via rough terrain in about an hour, or about half an hour by a boat from the shore of downtown Virac.

The sand in the Bitaogan Beach is as fine as Boracay, although not as white, that is why they call it as the “Little Boracay”. The water is so clear that even on the edge of the reef you can see the fishes down to the bottom several meters below. By the side of the beach was a hut on top of the big rocks which they call as “Gilliana’s Peak”.

The Victoria Cove, which is also a part of the Bitaogan Beach, is a piece of beachfront property privately owned and is now being develop as a family beach resort.

“Victoria Cove used to be a rocky place and one could not even imagine that this piece of property would undergo a great transformation. Much have to be done however to make the place touristy and attractive.” – John Xavier S. Chavez, owner of Victoria Cove Bitaogan Beach, author at travelsandtravails.com

On the other side of the Bitaogan beach, is a ranch on a hill also a private property owned by a family now living in the States, known to be as the Rancho de Tresvalles. The ranch is famous for its “one tree hill” scene; unfortunately, these days, the caretakers don’t allow people to come into the ranch because of those irresponsible tourists who visited before. On the brighter side, the ranch provides a perfect vista of the entire sitio of Bitaogan on a clear, sunny day of the other side of Southern Catanduanes where the capital town of Virac is situated and of Mayon in Albay.

Bitaogan Beach is a place perfect for swimming, strolling, and picnics. At night you can camp at the Bitaogan Beach and have the view of Virac shoreline with all the downtown lights.
