Binurong Point is one of the newest attractions the island of Catanduanes can offer. Binurong Point is located in Brgy. Guinsaanan, Baras, Catanduanes. A Batanes/Ireland hills & cliffs look and feel. Trekking to Binurong Point is easy unlike going to Bote Light House in Bato.

From Virac Downtown (Capital Town), It will take you more or less 1 hour to go to Brgy. Guinsaanan Proper (Baras Town), from the latter you will trek for about 15-20 minutes.

To better experience it, the best time to go to Binurong Point is at dawn so you can see the sun rising up while it shines to the grass and sea around the area. You might want to start travel from Virac to Binurong Point at 4:00 A.M.

There are just few tree shelters in the area so you better bring your own umbrella if you happen to visit the place at 9AM to 3PM to avoid the scorching heat of the sun.

There is a small river that is connected to the sea that you will encounter so you better use sandals or flipflops when you start your adventure to Binurong Point.- You can thank us later for this info. :)It’s okay now to use your trekking shoes too because there is a bamboo bridge built by the officials along the way.

In any case you are already there and has no idea where to start from Guinsaanan, look for the Brgy. Captain and ask for official personnel who will guide you to that awesome place.

Locals call the place “Binurong” because they usually bring the fishes they caught to that place and they “buro” (preserve food by salting; soak in vinegar…) it there.

By the way, “Binurong” is also a Bicol word meaning “Healed”.
